The history of Oregon has many ties to Scottish immigrants. The founding of Oregon is credited to Dr. John McLoughlin in the early eighteen-hundreds. Originally working for the Hudson’s Bay Company he established Fort Vancouver on what is now the Wasington side of the Columbia River, across from Portland. He broke with the Company to create what is now the State of  Oregon.
