Oregon's Scottish Heritage As people seek more and more information about their family genealogy and related history, we have received inquiries about Scottish History and how it relates to Oregon. We will start to accumulate information about the Scots contribution to Oregon. If you have information about the people of Oregon that are of Scottish heritage, please share it with us. In turn we will share it here, with the world. Contact William Duncan at oregonscottish@hotmail.com . So far the first documented Scot I can find in Oregon was Sir Alexander MacKenzie. Working for the Hudson's Bay Company explored the Northwest in 1797. Yes before Lewis & Clark ( two more Scottish names) The MacKenzie River is named after him. The King of England was hoping to make this a British Territory, and was so impressed with Alexander MacKenzie that he was Knighted for the exploration. Do you know of a Scot that was here before Sir Alexander MacKenzie?
